Fourth meeting

Today Gen was at a print workshop so Tia and I took the reigns.

We went to talk to Lynley at Koha coffee as this is a similar social good idea and she also volunteers at the Free Store.

She was really lovely and happy to try and help. She mentioned that her role at the Free Store is very nurturing and pastural in terms of trying to help people. To get the business off the ground Ben go the initial funding from people he knows and it took 3 years to get up and running and now continues to survive on donations and grants. And the Koha Coffee is actually run by a club on Massey campus so their funding from Mawsa grants.

When we talked to her about where our project was sitting at the moment she suggested we look up creative think tanks in Wellington and the Sustainability Trust as supporting organisations. The Sustainability Trust in particular looked like they could be really helpful to refer back to.

Tia and I also looked through the newest bag of flowers that I'd picked up from our supporting florist and found that a lot of them were past their best. Talking to the florist she also mentioned that for her corporate clients in particular, despite paying for a new bunch of flowers each week they often like to keep the previous bunch for an extra week or give to their staff to take home.

What a mission getting the waste today! Horrendous weather - looked totally hobo carrying a big trash bag but that's what you do for uni right?!

So if we can't get our hands on enough beautiful waste to on-gift we are going to need to rethink. Tia and I used our meeting as an opportunity to think this through.
